Brokerage Services

Each Youth Connect VET program is overseen by an Youth Connect staff member. They are responsible for the administration of the VET Certificate program. They are the main liaison between students, their school, school staff (i.e. VET, Careers or VCAL Coordinator), the training provider and the Trainers. This brokerage relationship is important in ensuring students receive access to quality VET training, through the clustering of students from a number of local schools. Most VET programs have an element of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) built into the training period. Youth Connect staff will source suitable work placements through the new Workplace Learning Coordinators Program which is a crucial part of their training. Youth Connect has been offering similar support for over twenty years and has well established relationships with employers in key local industries including Engineering, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Clothing and Textile Design, Manufacturing, Retail and Music.

For every Youth Connect VET Program that includes a structured work placement, school support for students is essential as it forms an important part of their training.

Youth Connect negotiates the conditions and provision of VET Certificate training with registered training organisations in relation to: the program structure, timetable, building in suitable periods of work placement that closely align with the training, costs of training and materials, and administrative processes that occur throughout the school year such as VASS deadlines and attendance.

Youth Connect acts as conduit between the training provider and the school. This provides both parties with one contact point for the provision of the VET program. This allows for smooth communication for schools, teachers, training organisations and trainers with any issues that may arise with the VET Programs and the associated administrative obligations.

Fees

As part of Youth Connect’s brokerage service, schools which enrol students into the following Youth Connect VET programs will be required to pay an enrolment and administrative fee of $180 per student.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Youth Connect has MoU arrangements with all schools that access its VET program brokerage. This is usually sent to the school at the commencement of the school year and requires the school to nominate a key contact such as a VET, VCAL or Careers Teacher/ Coordinator to be the main liaison between the student/s and Youth Connect throughout the VET training period. This MoU formalizes agreements pertaining to the roles and responsibilities of both Youth Connect and the school, with regards to the provision and administration of VET Certificate programs and associated Structured Workplace Learning, including but not limited to, payment and invoices, student results and absences.
