This program allows you to experience all aspects of the hospitality industry. The program is delivered at Sandringham College’s training restaurant in the first half of the year and at Holmesglen’s training restaurant Cilantro for the second half where you will get to experience front and back of house service. This course offers a great introduction to all aspects of the industry including hospitality, food and beverage, events and functions management and retail food. Work placements can take place in a variety of industry areas including restaurants, catering, hotels, functions and events, retail food and takeaway.

(Wednesday 9.45am – 12.15pm).
Term 3 & 4 – Holmesglen, 488 South Road, Moorabbin
(Wednesday 9.00am – 5.00pm).
* Westall Secondary College, Rosebank Ave, Clayton South
(Wednesday 1.30 – 6pm).

Duration

1 year.
Students can progress into the second year of VCE/VET Hospitality in the following year which is delivered at Holmesglen.

Work Placement

40 hours / 5 days.

Selection Criteria

Student suitability decided by home school/ referral by home school to program.
Mandatory Information Night at Sandringham College.
Interview to discuss program expectations and student suitability.

Materials

Program workbook and disc available from Sandringham College Campus Office.
Basic stationery is required for written components.

Contribution

VCAL counts towards Industry Related Skills strand.
VCE Units 1 and 2. If you complete the second year of the program it provides you with Units 3 & 4 and a study score contributing to the ATAR.

Future Employment Opportunities

Kitchen hand, Cook, Food and Beverage Attendant, Barista, Front Offi ce Receptionist, Reservations Clerk and Room Attendant.
