Youth Connect’s youth employment program, ‘Work This Way’ aims to help address some of the skill shortages that are so prevalent in the local region.  Many industries are struggling to find the right young person with the skills and industry specific knowledge and training for the job.  Youth Connect runs a number of programs with industry support, to help broaden young people’s knowledge to the different career pathways available (at a local and national level) and how they can get their foot in the door.

Youth Connect programs include:

• Work Placement for young people completing a Certificate in this industry area whilst at school or for young people who are contemplating a career in the industry.
• Industry Exposure through Industry Tours and Guest Speaking opportunities for Young People and Teachers
• Communicating industry information and resources to schools and young people
• Administering a number of Vocational Education and Training (VET) course for young people whilst they are completing their senior education.
• Offering Australian School Based Apprenticeships (ASBA) to students in the area
• The ‘Work This Way’ youth employment program- offering this free service to employers and young people in the Southern Melbourne area
